url - Create a cross-platform protocol helper that runs a python script -

I want to register a protocol handler, such as "myapp:", in OS X, Linux, and Windows, That when someone clicks on a URL like "myapp: // some / params" in a web browser, a python script will be called in those parameters.

Obviously this will need to be installed on each machine, to enable it, but it is just trying to find a way to work on all the three platforms.

Are you talking about a browser plug-in? If so, which browsers?
