sql server - Storing Database-Agnostic Schema -

We have many applications that work with many database engines, including SQL Server and Access. Schemas are maintained separately for each and it is not difficult to control the source in the text. We are interested in a system where the schema is stored in some text-based formats (such as XML or YAML) with the details of field data type, foreign key relations etc.

When all is said and done, we want to keep a single text file in source control that can be used to generate a successful database which works with both SQL Server, less (And preferably capable of working with Oracle, DB2 and other engines). / P>

I'm sure there are tools or libraries that can at least get the portion of that path. For one, I have found that it seems that this may be a trick, but I am interested in hearing about any alternative equipment or libraries or completely different solutions for those people in the same situation.

Note: Applications are written in C ++ and ORM solutions are not easily available in both C ++ and will take a very long time to integrate into our age products.

If you do not do this, then this (and many other things for you) is the easiest way To define your tables and attributes in any form of (static) code, it may be necessary to alert some structures and write a little generator to make the actual database from that statement.

This source makes it easy to control, and if you make careful when designing those structures, then you can easily use them again for other DBs if need arises.
