html5 - HTML Anchors with 'name' or 'id'? -

When someone wants to refer to some part of a webpage with " http://example.com/# Use Foo's "method,

   gt; & Lt; A name = "foo" /> Fu title & lt; / H1>  

or

  & lt; H1 id = "foo" & gt; Fu title & lt; / H1>  

They both work, but are they equal or do they have meaning differences?
