Like almost any person programming for a while, I am familiar with the term "production code" and a vague What does this mean, though, can present a semi-strict definition, because it looks Wikipedia and Google can not? It seems as to how much gray areas are in production, such as internal equipment that is used by a small group of people and therefore is not "formal" in the context of UI, documentation etc. and open source applications are completely Bug free and working from, but there is a lack of polish, UI and extensive testing.
