Eclipse Ganymede - Integeration with Tomcat 6 (without the whole WTP) -

If I start with a (ganymed) installation I need to install which plug-in:

  • Check the Servers tab and be able to add my Tomcat 6 installation.
  • Dynamic web projects that I can connect to my server.
  • I want to start and stop the server.
  • See the server studded out-output in my console tab.
  • Debug an application on the server

I want to install as little as possible, as long as I can talk above, I am more than satisfied.

Especially since I have problems with the entire Web Tool Platform (WTP); According to my , it is full of bug related to verification. It sometimes says that valid files are invalid, often if you restart Eclipse then it helps me also ignore the exclusions As well as sometimes it is completely ignored that I have disabled verification at the same time.

The problem I have experienced is not telling me anything from the WTP project, except plugins let me work more smoothly by completing the inventory (Because that part of the WPT has worked really well).

I have heard that some people have achieved success with Ganymede. But since it is not officially supported and a new release has not been made since May 2007 and involving with the Ganymede to include plug-in files for accepting versions> 3.4 = I do not see it in the form of

Install of WTP but not at all feel like a long-term solution While leaving the error at the same time, part of the WTP, but I need help with those parts which I need to install, because the documentation on eclipse.org does not explain. Of course, if using parts of the WTP is another supported solution, then it is also of interest!

When I use org.eclipse.jst.server.tomcat.ui To display the "Eclipse Plug-in Dependency" view, I see:

  • org.eclipse.wst .common.emf
  • org.eclipse. Org.eclipse.wst.common.environment
  • org.eclipse.wst .common.frameworks
  • org.eclipse. Wst.common.modulecore
  • org.eclipse.wst.common.project.facet.core
  • org.eclipse .wst.common.project.facet.ui
  • < Li> org.eclipse.wst.common.uriresolver
  • org.eclipse.wst.internet.monitor.core
  • Org.eclipse.wst.server.core
  • < Li> org.eclipse.wst.server.ui
  • org.eclipse.wst.validation

So if you go through P2 org.eclipse.jst.server.tomcat.ui and select "Update Process" to choose the dependency for you, then you should end up with the minimum running the Tomcat on Eclipse (WTP Together) requires the necessary plugins.
