Delphi History - Source Control -

After reading some posts on the benefits of using a source control for a developer, I think the main advantage is that Delphi has an inherent history function that I will back up all the changes in source files, which it does by default.

Is it really similar or should I use a "real" source control tool instead?

The history of history does not maintain history indefinitely, and you can destroy the __history directory one day, whether it is because of you consider it cruelty, or because you Archiving projects, etc.

If you ever issue your source code - that is, send it to third parties - you really want to be able to keep track of what was issued. Labeling can help with it in a source control system; Branches, you can apply patches to the previously released version, such as without different contingions, with different sources of different degrees of upgrades with the same source code.
