From time to time without arguing the relative properties of such storage ...
If you had a column where you store AM or PM, what do you call that column?
Edit:
I should have thought that there will be one group among you. This idea can not be opposed to heartburn. Nowhere do I see that I am doing this, that I want to do this, that I am not ambiguous for innumerable reasons because it is not ... but still some of you are forced to become energized Go and get worried about yourself how smart you are Question with what the question is for its value and some useful.
I am also very happy that so many people were not qualified for this slur and extended some great ideas forward. Thanks for the views.
Most groups of values have names, 1-24 values are known as hours from 1-12 months. But what is the name of the group for AM / PM is the collection for the domain ... and they are not clearly "meridem" because this is the name of a point in the afternoon. It is like calling Eddie and BC either Jesus Christ or Lord. While BCE or CE may probably fit in the "era" column.
Let me offset it off and store 0 or 12 in it. Essentially easy to replace AM or PM, but the main feature is that you can easily calculate real hours within the SQL statement (which makes the sorting easier and more pronounced).
