From time to time, a file that is interested in me is modified by some process. I have to figure out which process is modifying this file. Using LSOF will not work, nor will QUUE work even if it is possible under free BSDD and Linux?
On Linux, a kernel is floating around for patches, though some have said that Hardly useful and it can be a security risk. In any case, here it is.
In addition, I'm not sure there is no way to get a PID, either inotify or donotify . You can check further (like search for pid dnotify or pid inotify ), but I believe this is not possible.
