.net - How do I prevent Visual Studio from renaming my controls? -

If I paste something like something

  & lt; ASP: Dropdown List ID = "Dropdown List Expiration Date" Runat = "Server" />  

On an ASPX file that already controls with ID DropDownListExpirationDate , it has the new adhesive control as DropDownList1 Will change the name.

  & asp: dropdown list id = "dropdown list 1" runat = "server" />  

I was not but it was not. I paste it properly which I copied.

Is there a way to disable this feature?

A quick check (!) ....

Tools> Options> Text Editor> HTML> Miscellaneous

Uncheck 'Paste Auto ID Elements on Source View'.
