To complete the code, window> Preferences> Footer> Editor> Go to Code Completion, and use 'End Code?' Box, as well as other boxes you want to complete. It takes another to load, for the first time it has to be completed.
Syntax color should only work by default. Right-click the file in Package Explorer, go to 'Open With', and make sure you're opening it with the Python Editor, and not the regular text editor.
I do not know what you mean by importing external modules, I have my source in a different directory structure on disk; My PyDev projects contain folders that are associated with those people, code closing works for them, as well as other modules like 'OS'. If you are having trouble, then what are the modules added in Python's search path (not necessarily regular As a form)?
I took a brief look at the comodo and the wingware some time ago, so I can not answer the second part of your question. But ended with PEDW. I'm not a big fan of Eclipse, but PyDev works very well for me.
