I hear all these bad things about the DOM. Do not use ActiveX objects, xmldam or this "dome" oh god you are using dome?
But we use the document. Name GETElementbyId and ... at all times ..
So what am I actually using when using these methods? This is what the browser is using ...
The company I work for takes us away from the active x domain object, but it is not that we are What are you using?
You must distinguish between the HTML DOM and the XML DOM, and then within the browser and the external XML DOM needs to be used, though it is true that the XML DOM has significant memory footprint for large documents, the MSXML 6 DOM is very fast. XSLT changes, but can also define the entire document by defining the XPath query, so I do not think it would be easy to use a streaming interface. In a browser, you manipulate the HTML DOM in JavaScript. You can definitely go to RIA space using Flash or Silverlight, but it also requires an ActiveX control. I would suggest Genel as proposed by Jennelf, and use as much CSS as possible for use effects.
